Black Lives Matter.

It matters in our actions and it matters in our words. We see you. We hear you. We stand with you.

The South Dakota Afterschool Network is committed to providing opportunities for all of our youth to thrive with a strong support system. We understand that Black, Indigenous and Youth of Color begin life with unique challenges systematically created by our society.

We will continue to listen and elevate the stories of those with first-hand knowledge of racial bias. As a community, now is the time for us to listen, learn and act.

Afterschool is a lifeline that helps parents work without worry and balance their schedule.

  • 8 in 10 SD parents say out of school time programs give them peace of mind and help them keep their jobs

  • 7 in 10 South Dakota parents believe afterschool reduces the likelihood that kids will engage in risky behaviors

  • 57% of South Dakota parents agree that afterschool programs help children get excited about learning

  • 56% of South Dakota parents agree that afterschool programs help children gain STEM-related interests and skills

  • 87% of South Dakota parents support public funding for afterschool programs

Afterschool programs in South Dakota keep kids safe, boost student success and help parents keep their job. Kids achieve more, productivity goes up, and risky behaviors go down. With many resources available, we can share how Afterschool makes a difference.
